The Company was incorporated as Asian Steel Investment Holding Pte Ltd in 1995 by Sumitomo_Corporation,Japan, to acquire the entire interest of Pandai Steel Industry Pte Ltd and became the holding company of Pandai Steel.

Pandai Steel was established in 1974. It was the first steel service centre specialized in carbon steel in Singapore. In 1978, Sumitomo Corporation acquired 49% shares of Pandai Steel. Being the largest and leading steel processing centre in Singapore, it offered processing on slitting, shearing and stamping of steel products catering to all needs in the region. With the wide range of machineries and equipments, backed up by stringent quality control, well equipped warehousing, Pandai Steel has offered wide varieties of materials most suited to end-user at low cost for just-in-time delivery.

In 1997, Asian Steel Investment Holding Pte Ltd changed its name to Asian Steel Company Ltd and has since expanded its scope of investment immensely.

Effective from 31/12/2003, Asian Steel consolidates its Singapore operation by transferring the entire business of Pandai Steel (one of its subsidiaries) under its own name. The company is focusing on three core business:
